You can almost smell the tubes burning up in his Marshall from that chord at the end (8:26-8:36)

This came out on “The Eseential Jimi Hendrix” as a small 7″ record with a blank “B” side. When I first bought the record in 1980 I thought the listing “7″EP ” was a tune! I still have that record…yeah great tune!

This was recorded and filmed in Oct. of 1968 at TTG Studios in Hollywood. Not all of the footage you see is from the same period, it’s spliced together, but makes a damn good video! This version is available on “The Jimi Hendrix Expierence” box set that came out in 2000. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! This was the begining of the recording sessions for the never finished fourth Expierence album. The official breakup was June 29, 1969 at the Denver Pop Festival.

When I first heard this, it blew me away. Anybody who says Hendrix shouldn’t be rated the number one guitarist of all time should listen to this. And f—k all of you who disagree, you are wusses. Get the Jimi Hendrix Experience Box Set–every song is fantastic, nothing like you ever heard on his studio albums. A mix of live and studio remixes, it is a killer box set, not for Hendrix neophytes.

i prefer the orignal song by the doors

  25. Paulaprentiss77 Says:

I read that Jimi Hendrix used to come and listen to Van sing at a small club in the late 60s, before Van made Astral Weeks album. So Jimi was a fan of his.
