Here’s a cool version of Stranger, performed by Jefferson Starship at Tampa Stadium in Tampa, Florida in 1985 It was shot by a college TV production class (my friend was stage hand held camera). What I like about this version, is the fat sound of the lead guitar and classic Grace Slick facial expressions…

My first concert was Jefferson Starship in 1981 for the Stranger album. Craig Chaquico was insanely good. I would have to agree that he was perhaps the best live guitar player of the early 80’s. You would never know just by hearing the albums. Thanks for sharing this rare footage!

I like the solo here as well.

However, I feel that the solo from the Austin, TX show on this tour is much better than either this or the Vancouver ‘82 show.

Thanks for the info… I’ll check him out!

    Chaquico has garnered many
accolades as a New Age artist
    since leaving the Starship.
    Look him up online.

Semipoker. Checked out that solo. You aint kidding. Dynamite. What a F**n sound. That’s
what rock playing is. Thanks for the tip.

Both solos are awesome… You know, the more I watch this concert footage, the more I am becoming a Craig fan… he really is a great guitar player that should be receiving more accolades…

check out the solo at the end of save your
love from this same concert. probably, the
    best solo of all time

I think that is a good idea… get a hold of that Carvin amp and jam out some serious Starship tunes — along with your own compositions too!

I think he endorsed them.G.P. Mag. I’ve never owned one. Played a couple. Beauteous. My buddy who
unfortunately may be taking a little 2-3 yr vacation has a Carvin 2×12 tube combo. I should probably get my mitts on that eh?

Hey, glad you liked the video… I became aware of Carvin guitars and amps by hearing Craig’s awesome sound. The Carvin’s are very impressive, indeed! Thanks for your comment and a little bit of history…

Thank you. Homerun! Summer of 1980 when I took
up the guitar and I’m pretty sure this solo had something to do with it. Chaquico right? In my top ten solos (think the one in Jane is up there too). Only rock “tone” gets me off more. Don’t laugh Peter Frampton. I dont care laugh. See the comments on the Stranger Live 83. Some marshmellow writes “he blew the solo”.Clown. Great players like this guy never play solos note for note. If the do they SUCK. This guy is pissa. Pissa post!
