ALL generations have been guilty of apathy since that era. The decision to end the draft was a brilliant calculation that has paid off for corporate America. No need to attend college or even finish high school. No need to be concerned with social issues. Just “fight for your right to party” and end up being only socially aware or educated enough to shuffle their papers, swing the mops, or flip their burgers while they pass one environmentally raping law after another-with zero dissent anywhere.

What you say is true what caused those intellects to change I don’t know. But the youth of my generation just makes me want to cringe and wish to be born back in the day of these guys and all of those intellectuals and other artists.

This song/album were the unofficial launching of “The Summer Of Love” and all that the 60s were to become. So many great artists and intellects were lost to drug abuse, hedonism, and eventually either death or even worse, conservatism. Jerry Rubin died a Wall St. yuppie, Tom Hayden joined the corporate gang bang on Capitol Hill, and the rest of the surviving “hippies” joined “the establishment”.
Since the raft was repealed, American youth has stood for zero and now worships a prison culture.
